Our School Day
The following provides overviews of a typical day in Reception, KS1 and KS2 at Mitton Manor Primary School.
A typical day in Reception:
8:45am: Gates open and children have access to magic breakfast activities in the classroom.
8:55am: Attendance is taken and dinner register is completed.
9:00am-9:30am: Cozy Club/ Mastering Number
9:30am-10:00am: Phonics (apart from on a Monday morning where the children attend an assembly)
10:00am-10:30am: Reception playtime and snack time
10:30am-11:45am: Whole Class/ group teaching linked to an area of learning with continuous provision
11:45am- 12:45pm: Reception lunchtime
12:45pm-1:00pm: Whole class story time
1:00-1:15pm: Whole class handwriting
1:15pm-2:45pm: Whole class/ group teaching linked to an area of learning with continuous provision
2:45pm-3:00pm: Assembly
3:15pm: Home time

9:30am-10:00am: Phonics (apart from on a Monday morning where the children attend an assembly)
10:00am-10:30am: KS1 playtime and snack Time
10:30am-11:45am: Morning lesson usually English or maths
11:45am- 12:45pm: KS1 lunchtime (Y2 12:00-1:00PM)
12:45pm-1:00pm: Story time/ handwriting
1:15pm-1:45pm: Afternoon lesson usually English or maths
1:45pm-2:00pm: Afternoon break/ Daily Mile
2:00pm-2:45pm: Afternoon lesson usually a foundation Subject
2:45pm-3:00pm: Assembly
3:15pm: Home time
6 hours and 30 minutes per day.
32 hours and 25 minutes per week.
A typical day in KS2:
8:45am: Gates open and children have access to independent learning activities in the classroom.
8:55am: Attendance is taken and dinner register is completed.
9:00am-9:55am: Lesson One (English, maths, guided reading or SPAG)
9:55am-10:05am: Snack Time
10:05am-11:00am: Lesson Two (English, maths, guided reading or SPAG)
11:00am-11:15am: Break Time
11:15am- 12:15pm: Lesson Three (English, maths, guided reading or SPAG)
12:15pm-1:15pm: Lunchtime
1:15pm-1:30pm: Handwriting
1:30pm-2:30pm: Lesson Four (Foundation subjects e.g. History, Geography, MFL, CPSHE, RE, PE, Art, D&T, Computing, Music or Science)
2:30pm-2:40pm: Daily Mile
2:45pm-3:00pm: Assembly
3:00pm-3:20pm: Story time
3:20pm: Home time
6 hours and 35 minutes per day.
32 hours and 55 minutes per week.
Happy Mind sessions take place every Monday morning from 9:30–10:00am for children from Reception to Year Six, supporting positive wellbeing and a calm start to the week.
Weekly spelling tests are held every Thursday morning for pupils in Year One to Six to help reinforce and assess their spelling progress.
*Extra curricular clubs run from 3:15/3:20pm until 4:00pm*
