Mitton Manor Primary School

Mitton Manor Primary School

Year 1

In Year One, Miss Reeve and Miss Downes help us every day with our work. We have so much fun learning through play. We are becoming more independent in our work as we start to follow the national curriculum.

Our PE day is Monday and the children should come into school wearing their PE kit. New spelling words are sent home via Seesaw on a Monday. Maths and English/Topic homework are sent home via Seesaw on Friday.

We send a weekly newsletter on a Friday which updates you on everything we are doing in class at the moment, as well as letting you know any key dates or events. Please look out for this on your announcements on Seesaw smiley

Please don't hesitate to pop in and see us if you have any questions! smiley

AUTUMN TERM

This term we are exploring 'The Enchanted Woods'. We will start by looking at The Jungle Book and write our own stories using lots of amazing description. We will then look at 'The Jolly Postman' and 'The Jolly Christmas Postman' and the different fairytale characters which appear on his travels. In Science, we are exploring different materials and thinking about the scientific words we can use to describe them. We will then be designing our own boats for Moana.

In Music, we are going to be learning about rhythm and rhyme and will be using instruments to support our retelling of 'We're going on a bear hunt'.  In History, we will be learning about Mary Anning and how fossils are made. We will be writing newspaper articles about her amazing discovery. smiley
