Computing

Computing at Mitton is taught through a Kapow Primary scheme of work. This scheme has been chosen as it covers all statements in a progressive and purposeful way. Coverage of the scheme ensures that all aspects of computing are covered.  The program allows children to access a number of tools to use for cross-curricular opportunities and engages them in activities that will allow them to practice skills for life.

At Mitton Manor our teaching of computing aims:

  • To encourage confidence in the use of computers.
  • To identify situations and opportunities where the use of computing is relevant.
  • To use computing as a means of challenging, motivating and stimulating children.
  • To enable pupils to become competent, discerning users of computing.
  • To be selective in the appropriateness of its use both in and out of school.
  • To recognise that computing affects the way in which people live and work.
  • To be able to evaluate, reflect and comment on the use of computing.
