Although we have no confirmed cases of corona virus linked to school we have many staff and pupils who are self isolating as a result of themselves or family members displaying symptoms. This is entirely expected as a result of the government guidelines regarding self isolation as below:
We continue to monitor our practice daily to ensure the safety of the whole school community and we have made the following amendments:
· Dinner arrangements will be staggered to avoid a “mass gathering” in the hall. Children who bring sandwiches to school will be eating in their classroom.
· All after school clubs have now ceased until after Easter
· Scholastic Book fair has been postponed until the Summer term.
As a result of the parent consultations being cancelled all parents will receive a copy of their child’s targets by the end of the week to keep parents informed of next steps in learning.
Staff are doing all they can to ensure the school is open and functioning normally at this time. However, as we have a decreasing number of staff we will be continually reviewing the staffing ratios as the safety of our children cannot be compromised. Please bear with us if the phone rings longer than normal, you wait at the gate a little longer or your child has a different TA in their class. Rest assured it is because the children are our priority at all times and those staff that are here are working tirelessly to ensure the school functions as normal.
Whilst all this is going on the staff have already prepared a fabulous resource of digital learning in preparation for the possibility of forced school closure. Whilst we would not wish this to happen we have been pro-active in developing an exciting resource to be able to communicate with children and families daily to ensure your child’s education can be continued during closure. As teachers have been working hard with this whilst also teaching in school we cannot currently provide work for children who are self isolating at present.
I am proud and humbled by the dedication of the staff at Mitton Manor. It is a privilege to be part of this team at this challenging time. I also wish to thank parents and families for your continued support. Please stay safe and well.
